What is a vest/gilet to elevate a dress style?
Vests are a type of tops with different meanings and forms depending on the country and time period, and were originally a middle garment worn between underwear and a jacket. The vest is called a gilet in France, a vest in England, and in Japan, it is sometimes called a chokki (a shortened form of “straight jacket” or “jacket”), meaning a sleeveless, front-fitting undergarment. Unlike the three-piece suit, in which the suit and vest are made of the same fabric, the vest by itself is called an “odd vest.
