The birth of Parker’s iconic “Duofold

It was in 1921 that Parker’s iconic “Duofold,” inspired by aircraft, was born. In 1928, the Duofold was manufactured in a new reinforced plastic material that was as durable as it was beautiful. The Duofold quickly became known around the world for its innovative advertising technique of proving its durability by throwing it from an airplane into the bottom of the Grand Canyon valley.

Parker leads the luxury writing instrument industry with the development of numerous masterpieces of fountain pens and ballpoint pens.

In 1933, Parker developed the ” Vacu-matic, ” a pen that held more than twice the ink capacity of ordinary pens of the time and allowed the user to visually check the amount of ink remaining. This model was one of the first to adopt Parker’s famous iconic ” arrow feather clip. The “Parker 51,” which was developed to commemorate the 51st anniversary of the company’s founding, was dubbed “the pen from outer space” and won the ” Academy Award for Best Design. At the end of World War II, General Dwight D. Eisenhower used the “Parker 51″ to sign the German Instrument of Surrender, making it one of the most iconic pens of the 20th century. Then, in 1954, production of Parker’s first ballpoint pen, the ” Jotter ” began. The Jotter sold 3.5 million units in its first year on the market, and its popularity continues to this day.

In 1970, Parker introduced the “T-1,” which became known as the “Space Pen” because it was made entirely of titanium, and in 1987, U.S. President Ronald Reagan and Soviet General Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev used the sterling silver Parker 75 when they signed the Treaty on the Elimination of All Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces. In 1993, the first Parker 75 Sonnet was introduced, which inherited the Parker 75’s sizzling pattern, and in 2009, the Parker Primier, a modern design that combines boldness and sophistication, was introduced and has become a favorite in the Parker collection along with the Duofold and the Jotter. Parker Primier is a favorite of the public.
