Parker’s History

Parker was founded at the end of the 19th century with the belief of ” making excellent pens.”

Parker was founded more than a century ago in 1888. The founder, George Safford Parker, was 25 years old when he created his first pen with the aspiration of “creating a superior pen. At the time, fountain pens had the problem that ink left inside the pen when not in use would leak out when the pen was used again. Through repairing broken fountain pens, George Parker sought a new way to prevent ink leakage. Focusing on the internal shape of the pen, he solved this problem by developing an innovative ink supply system with a curved pen barrel. This system, named the “Lucky Curve,” was patented in 1894. It was patented in 1894 and was utilized for several decades until 1929, bringing a quantum leap forward in the writing instrument industry.
