The United Kingdom has one of the longest leather shoe cultures in the world and is home to a wide range of historical shoemakers, and many of its shoes are called “shoes for life” because of their robust manufacturing compared to other European-made shoes. Crockett & Jones, which we picked up this time, is another long-established shoe manufacturer with a history of more than 140 years born in England. This time, we focus on the penny loafer “Harvard” made by such a long-established shoemaker, Crockett & Jones!

Crockett&Jones, a long-established shoe manufacturer born in England
Crockett & Jones is a shoe brand with its origins in a shoe factory founded in 1879 by James Crockett and his sister’s spouse and brother-in-law, Charles Jones, in Northampton, a famous shoe production area in England. Although both men were born into a family of skilled shoemakers in Northampton, they focused on the mass production of ready-made shoes from early on, and are known as the first brands to adopt the ” Goodyear-welted method ” of sewing the inner sole and main sole (outsole) using a welt and a sewing machine.
