The “All Star,” which later became known as “Chuck Taylor,” was introduced in 1917. Basketball was invented in 1891 as a sport invented by Dr. Naismith, who was teaching at the YMCA at the time. Founder Marquis M. Converse saw a business opportunity in this sport with a short history and developed the All Star as a shoe exclusively for basketball. The name “Chuck Taylor (Charles H. Taylor)” was added to the heel label for the first time in the 1930s, when the label was labeled “Chuck Taylor MODEL” in the center without the star mark. In the 1970s, the two small stars were eliminated in favor of a “one-star” heel label with the words “MADE IN U.S.A.” on it.
