In this issue, we focus on Levi’s jeans and introduce the appeal of each type of jeans currently available!

About ” Levi’s “, the creator of jeans

Levi’s was founded by Levi Strauss in 1853. Levi Strauss, who came to the U.S. as a German immigrant during the gold rush, manufactured work pants, the predecessor of jeans, in response to the needs of gold miners. Originally, they were sold using canvas fabric, but the material was later changed to denim. The world’s first jeans were completed. The birth of jeans was triggered by a worker’s request for “pants that would not tear even under severe working conditions. To meet this demand, the company adopted tailor Jacob Davis’ idea of reinforcing pockets with rivets. In addition, the jeans were dyed in indigo to repel insects and snakes (it was later discovered that there was no such effect). These specifications of jeans that continue to this day were perfected from the very beginning.

In 1890, the first pair of jeans with the lot number ” 501 ” was born. The 501 was sold only in the western U.S. until the mid-1950s, but its practicality was recognized and its sales channels were expanded to the East Coast. As time went by, adjustments were made to the silhouette, and new lot numbers were created one after another. Jeans, which were originally designed for laborers, have gone beyond that framework and eventually became a fashion item. Today, jeans are produced by a variety of manufacturers, but the origin of their details is none other than Levi’s. As the originator of jeans, Levi’s is now a leading manufacturer of jeans in Japan. As the creator of jeans, Levi’s continues to produce products with a high degree of perfection.
