How to lose belly fat? Effective methods and causes of accumulation explained.

Belly fat tends to accumulate as we age. Many people are in a hurry or give up because it is difficult to feel as if they are losing fat even if they are on a diet. In this issue, we will focus on the theme of “losing belly fat,” and introduce the causes of fat around the belly and ways to lose fat.

What type of belly fat do you have?

There are three types of fat that cause obesity: subcutaneous fat, visceral fat, and ectopic fat. Subcutaneous fat refers to fat between the skin and muscles, and is more easily accumulated in women than in men, making it more difficult to remove. Visceral fat, on the other hand, is more common in men and is said to be easier to lose than subcutaneous fat. Visceral fat accumulates in the same abdominal cavity as the liver and pancreas and makes the abdomen look taut, so a body with a protruding abdomen is most likely to have accumulated visceral fat.

An increase in visceral fat is detrimental to our health!

Although all fats should be prevented from increasing too much, we should be more concerned about visceral fat, which is closely related to the internal organs and increases the risk of high blood sugar, high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, and other diseases. It is also not an exaggeration to say that a lifestyle that leads to obesity increases the risk not only of these diseases, but also of diabetes, weakness of the legs and feet, and injury. Fat tends to accumulate more easily as we age, so it is important to incorporate moderate exercise as well as a good daily diet. In particular, muscle training should be done at the same time when dieting, as muscle is also necessary to lose fat and obtain a cool body.

How long does it take to lose belly fat?

The speed of fat loss varies depending on the body fat percentage, the intensity of the diet, and the amount of fat on the body, but it may take 2~3 months at the earliest to completely clear the belly fat, and 6 months~1 year or more with long-term dieting. If you have little subcutaneous fat and only a large amount of visceral fat, you may be able to look trim in two months, but if you also have subcutaneous fat, you need to be prepared to go on a long-term diet. It is also difficult to lose weight only on the belly, as the fat will fall off together with the overall fat, so do not think that you can lose weight by doing sit-ups alone.
