The timeless iconic Converse “One Star” sneaker
The One Star was born in 1974 as a pair of basketball shoes. The “One Star” is known as one of Converse’s representative sneakers along with the All Star and Jack Purcell. 1969 saw the launch of the “Stars & Bars” basketball shoes with leather uppers, which won the support of many players for their high-quality genuine leather uppers and excellent durability. The One Star, which required advanced manufacturing technology, was not suitable for mass production at the time, and it was difficult to secure a stable supply of high-quality leather, so production was discontinued after only two years. The One-Star was considered the highest quality Converse sneaker of all time, but it was no longer available, and the One-Star became a legendary sneaker.

In 1984, about eight years after the discontinuation, the smooth leather “One Star” was reissued in Japan. Later, suede, mid-cut, and Velcro models were developed, and the One Star was sublimated to become a symbolic Converse item. Currently, in addition to the smooth leather One Star, which is similar to the original model, the predecessor model, Star & Bars, is being developed. Incidentally, the image below shows the Star & Bars.
