The Caliber 9R is a Spring Drive movement that combines mechanical and quartz watch mechanisms. This model was designed to commemorate the 20th anniversary of its birth. The vivid red dial color is impressive and represents the summer morning glow of the Hodaka mountain range in Shinshu, where Spring Drive is manufactured. The color of the dial is painted using a new processing technique called “optical multilayer coating,” which uses multiple thin layers of PVD to accentuate the delicate molded pattern and change the color depending on the angle of light, like an oil painting, which could not be achieved using conventional painting techniques. The result is a beautiful shimmer of color, like that of an oil painting, which could not be achieved with conventional painting techniques.

The new watch is equipped with the “Caliber 9R96,” a movement with even higher precision than the standard “Caliber 9R86. While the “Caliber 9R86” is accurate to an average of ±15 seconds per month (equivalent to ±1 second per day), the “Caliber 9R96” is accurate to an average of ±10 seconds per month (equivalent to ±0.5 seconds per day). As a sign of its exceptional precision, the rotor is decorated with an 18K yellow gold “lion’s crest” that can be seen with the naked eye through the see-through back cover.

Case and bracelet: bright titanium, glass: dual-curved sapphire glass (internal anti-reflective coating), water resistance: water resistant to 20 atmospheres, case size: outer diameter 44.5 mm (excluding crown and projections), thickness 16.8 mm, winding system: automatic (with manual winding), time Accuracy: ±10 seconds per day (equivalent to ±0.5 seconds per day, when worn at temperatures between 5°C and 35°C), power reserve: approx. 72 hours (approx. 3 days at maximum winding), number of jewels: 50, additional functions: stopwatch function, 24-hour hand (dual time display function)
