Grand Seiko’s new “Evolution 9 Collection” model depicts “the tranquil birch forests of Shinshu
This regular model is equipped with the mechanical high-beat movement “Caliber 9SA5,” which won the ” Men’s Watch ” category at the Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix last year. The design was highly acclaimed for its motif of a birch forest, which is said to be the most beautiful in Japan, not far from the “Shinshu Toki no Takumi Workshop” where Grand Seiko’s Spring Drive is manufactured. The newest model in the Evolution 9 Collection, SLGA009, is a regular model equipped with the latest Spring Drive movement, Caliber 9RA2.
The dial with a molded pattern, which radiates the same refined beauty as the mechanical movement model, expresses the serenity of a snowy birch forest.
The three-dimensional hands on the dial are made more legible by the bold hour hand and slender minute hand. The matte, subdued and shiny case features a mirror finish with no distortions due to the rough polishing process. The new models not only have elegant looks, but are also easy to wear and provide a stable fit.

Seiko’s original Spring Drive is highly regarded worldwide. This model is equipped with Grand Seiko’s exclusive next-generation Spring Drive movement, Caliber 9RA2, which incorporates two barrels and can run for five days (approximately 120 hours) at maximum winding. In addition to achieving an astonishingly high accuracy of ±10 seconds per month on average, the “offset magic lever” structure has also succeeded in making the movement thinner. The back of the watch is finished with the “Shinshu fog and ice finish,” which represents the fog and ice and starry sky seen in the Shinshu region in early winter, giving the watch a quiet and graceful impression.
