THE WARMTHCRAFTS-MANUFACTURE will launch “PISCINE Label” for the first time in the Kanto area, featuring wallets and small leather goods made from the leather of black bass from Lake Biwa, known as a sacred place for bass fishing. The original and graceful new exotic collection can be checked out at Isetan Shinjuku Men’s Building from October 20 (Wed) to October 31 (Sun).

PISCINE Label” is a collection that is attracting attention as a new sustainability from leather to leather.
The meat and skin of black bass are cut into pieces, and while the meat is cooked and eaten, the skin is usually discarded. By bringing life back into the discarded skin, THE WARMTHCRAFTS-MANUFACTURE’s “PISCINE Label” has created an attractive, environmentally friendly, and sustainable material. This collection was made possible by the advanced technology and experience of Shinki Leather, a prestigious tannery that has been engaged in the tanning and finishing processes of cordovan (leather from the buttocks of horses) and horsehide (leather from the body of horses). The thin, delicate fish skin is made into high quality wallets and leather accessories through a complex process that includes removing the unique smell and excess fat from the skin. The most difficult and time-consuming process to develop was to remove the fat from the underside of the skin. The leather is then tanned and tanned with the utmost care, as even the smallest amount of fat can cause the leather to smell even after it is finished.

The supplied black bass leather is handmade into products in TWCM’s atelier. Due to the delicacy of the leather, a combination of cordovan for the exterior and horsehide for the interior is used to create a more luxurious and elegant finish. Since each hide is cut into pieces suitable for cooking when it is dismantled, there is a limit to the size of the pieces that can be sewn into a product. In such a situation, the designers and craftsmen take inspiration from the leather and make it into products.
This season’s new BASS collection includes “WAKIN” and “DORADO,” vivid new colors inspired by the goldfish and dorado species, as well as “BASS” and “BASS” from the “BASS” collection, which are inspired by the goldfish and dorado species. In addition, a new color collection, “WEED,” was introduced using waterweeds that thrive in large quantities in Lake Biwa as a dye. The waterweeds in Lake Biwa are said to be causing fishing hazards, adversely affecting people’s lives, and impacting the ecosystem. As part of the countermeasure, the company uses dried waterweeds decomposed by active oxygen developed by WEF Technology Development (Otsu City), a manufacturer of wastewater treatment equipment, to dye black bass leather using the traditional herb-dyeing method and the delicate leather-making techniques used in the past.
