Trivia: Structure of GORE-TEX® Fabrics
GORE-TEX® fabrics are made of a thin sheet of polyurethane resin called a “GORE-TEX® membrane,” which is a membrane-like material with numerous holes, to which the outer and inner fabrics are attached. The holes in the GORE-TEX® membrane are of an exquisite size, allowing water vapor to pass through but not water. This has established its position as a typical material used in functional clothing, as it meets the needs of outdoor and sports scenes that “want to repel rainwater, but prevent steaminess after sweating. Furthermore, GORE-TEX® membrane has a three-dimensional spider-web structure, which also has the added benefit of dispersing wind and preventing it from hitting the body.
