What has evolved in the new “Mechanical Divers 1965 Heritage”?
Seiko launched Japan’s first diver’s watch in 1965, a model that paved the way for the history of Seiko diver’s watches. Since then, Seiko has produced many divers’ watches that have been supported by professionals and sports enthusiasts around the world for their safety, reliability, and ease of use. One such diver’s watch is the ” SBDC101,” introduced in 2020, which is water resistant to 200m air and has a 70-hour power reserve, and has won worldwide acclaim for its functionality and vintage-style design inherited from the first model in 1965. The “SBDC195” and “SBDC197” are the latest additions to this lineage.
Evolutionary Point 1: “Specs for duration and water resistance have been improved! Updated date window and index design.”
The mechanical caliber “6R55” is a movement with a long power reserve of 3 days (about 72 hours). It is also water resistant to 300 meters, Seiko’s highest specification for a diver’s watch for air diving. In addition, the date window is positioned between 4 and 5 o’clock, which means that the index at 3 o’clock is not cut off, and the 12 luminescent indexes are more symmetrical in design, making them even more visible in dark conditions.
Evolution point 2: “More comfortable fit on the wrist
This new model is designed to be more compact than the previous ” SBDC101,” while maintaining the reliability, safety, and ease of use required of a Seiko diver’s watch. The stainless steel bezel has an aluminum plate insert for a classical design. In addition, the diving scale is laser engraved and then filled with paint for a more precise finish and to prevent the paint from peeling off after prolonged use. The newly developed bracelet consists of a supple, short-pitched bracelet with a compact buckle, which, in combination with the reduced size of the case, provides a comfortable fit.

Commemorating the 100th anniversary of the SEIKO brand! Special edition model also released at the same time!
To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the SEIKO brand, a special edition model will be released at the same time. This model has a charcoal gray dial and bezel with gold-colored accents. This special design is a perfect way to celebrate the 100th anniversary, as it expresses the many advances in watchmaking over the past century under the name “SEIKO” as “brilliance.
Strap using traditional Japanese technology combines design and functionality
A special strap made from 100% recycled sustainable plastic bottles is included as a special feature of the special model. The strap is woven using a traditional Japanese technique called “seichu” (“cord weaving”), and features a three-dimensional, richly expressive weave pattern. The “Seichu” strap also meets Seiko Divers Watch’s strict standards and is durable enough to withstand long hours of use in tough environments. The strap is supple and highly breathable, and always maintains a comfortable feel.
