Dive into Style with Seiko's Limited Edition Black Series Diver's Watches

From March 11 (Fri.), four models with a night diving theme will be available in limited quantities from “The Black Series” based on the black color of the Seiko Prospex watches. The black case expresses the darkness and quietness of the night sea, while the orange color is inspired by the light of underwater lights, creating a dramatic and mysterious world of night diving at night.

Seiko’s divers collection has proven its reliability since 1965

Seiko’s divers’ watches have been used by many adventurers and explorers in all kinds of harsh environments around the globe, including being donated four times since 1966 as equipment for the Antarctic Research Expedition. In 1968, the company introduced a model with a one-piece case without a back cover, equipped with the world’s highest standard 10 vibrations high-beat movement at that time, which combined water resistance to 300 meters with a high level of precision. (Image: 1968 Mechanical Divers)

The model with the distinctive crown guard at the 4 o’clock position introduced in 1970 was carried by adventurer Naomi Uemura on his 12,000 km dog sledding trip in the Arctic Circle from 1974 to 1976, proving its high reliability and safety in harsh environments. These milestones have been reinterpreted with a modern design twist to create a new model that expresses the unique world of “The Black Series”. (Image: 1970 Mechanical Divers)

Four new models based on the 1965-1970 Mechanical Divers are now available!

The first metal bracelet model in the series updated from the 1970 Mechanical Divers

Based on the ” 1970 Mechanical Divers,” this model retains the striking form of the original, but has been updated with a major functional update. The glass material is a curved sapphire glass with an anti-reflective coating on the inner surface, and the water resistance has evolved to 200 meters for air diving. The mechanical caliber 8L35 movement, manufactured at the Shizukuishi Fine Watch Workshop, is a dedicated diver’s watch movement with greatly improved durability and performance.

The case, with its mirror-rimmed sides and five rows of metal bracelets, gives the watch a modern and sharp impression. The dial is decorated with a delicate dial pattern inspired by ripples in the sand, evoking a scene of the ocean floor spreading out in the twilight during night diving. In addition to the metal bracelet, the first in “The Black Series,” a black reinforced silicon strap is also included, making the watch suitable for a wide range of usage scenarios.

Three new models combine the design inherited from the original models with supple fabric straps!

Three highly practical models equipped with the Caliber 6R35, which has a long power reserve of 70 hours, are also born, while taking advantage of the design features of the three milestone Seiko Divers watches of 1965, 1968, and 1970. For the first time in “The Black Series,” a fabric strap woven using a traditional Japanese technique called “seichu” is used for the strap. It is not only highly durable, but also aesthetically pleasing with a comfortable feel against the skin and an elegant finish. A black reinforced silicone strap is also included.

In the dark, Seiko’s unique LUMIBLITE tri-color light comes to life to ensure reliable visibility.
