New Balance introduces the ” 990v5 ” as the legitimate successor to the brand’s iconic 990 series as its flagship model. While inheriting the essence of the original, it has been updated with a modern silhouette. The 990v5 will go on sale on April 27 (Sat), with pre-orders starting on April 19 (Fri) at the official New Balance online store!

The 990v5, an innovative sneaker with a score of 990 out of 1000, has evolved even further!

The original ” 990 ” was created in 1982 as a running shoe that combined the best of New Balance technology. The sensational catchphrase “On a scale of 1000 this shoe is a 990” and the selling price of about $100, a high price for a sneaker at that time, made a big splash. Since then, the 990 series has evolved with the times as the brand’s flagship model. Now, the “990v5” has been developed as the brand’s symbolic masterpiece.

Major updates to the hold, cushioning and even the design!

The upper is a combination of high-quality pigskin suede and mesh. While retaining the feel of the original 990, it has evolved into a modern and sophisticated design. A TPU collar strap is applied to the ankle for added hold. The newly adopted Ortholite insole provides enhanced cushioning, while the ENCAP construction, which combines stability and shock absorption, and ABZORB, which provides shock absorption and resilience, deliver functionality and comfort worthy of being called a masterpiece. The ABZORB is a masterpiece of functionality and comfort.

The “990v5” is manufactured at the Lawrence factory, one of five factories New Balance maintains in the United States. The factory, which primarily produces shoes for the performance and lifestyle lines, is home to many veterans who have worked there for decades, as well as craftspeople who work with both parents and children. The shoes are made by craftsmen who have inherited superior craftsmanship.
