New Balance has updated its popular “997” model with a new collection of “997H” shoes in a wide variety of styles.

From New Balance’s iconic “99X” series comes the new “997H” collection, an updated version of the popular “997” model from the fourth generation of the series! The new collection is available from February 2 (Sat) in a wide variety of sporty colors and materials, and is also available as a special book giveaway and an apparel collection, so be sure to check it out.

The new “997H” model inherits the identity of the classic “997” and updates it with today’s technology and interpretation.

In 2019, New Balance will be developing a variety of products featuring the brand’s iconic “99X” series under the banner of “Year of 9’s.” The first of these products will be the “9X” series, which will be available in a variety of colors and materials. The “H” at the end of the word “997H” means “Hypothesis,” and it is the result of a project that takes a different perspective on the “997,” which was originally released in the U.S.A. in 1990 and has since become one of the brand’s most popular products, and asks the question, “What if we could recreate it with today’s technology? What would happen if we reproduced it with today’s technology? The “997H” was born from this hypothesis. The “997H” is inspired by the upper design details of the “997,” while the sole unit features a new sole with updated cushioning and lightweight properties. The “997H” is available in a variety of variations and materials, including a bright, sporty color scheme inspired by New Balance’s heritage colors of the “90s.
