OMEGA has released a special edition ” Speedmaster ” to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing!

OMEGA’s “Speedmaster” is known as the “Moon Watch” and was used in the Apollo missions. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of man’s first steps on the moon, Omega is releasing a new “Speedmaster Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Limited Edition. The finish is full of romance, evoking the legacy left behind by the Apollo 11 program and the deep bond with the astronauts.

The new model follows the design of the 18K yellow gold Speedmaster BA145.022, which was limited to 1,014 pieces in 1969. The Speedmaster BA145.022 was a limited edition of 1,014 pieces created in 1969, and was famously presented to the astronauts at a dinner to honor the heroes who landed on the moon during the Apollo missions. This limited edition features a polished and brushed 42mm case that inherits the asymmetrical case design. It also features a bracelet designed in 1969 with a single row of five arched links.

Newly developed 18K moonshine gold to represent the light of the moon

The main material used for the case and bracelet is a newly developed special 18K gold. Inspired by the light of the moon shining in a dark blue sky, 18K moonshine gold has a lighter hue than conventional yellow gold and is more resistant to color and brightness changes over time.

Dial reproduces details coveted by Speedmaster fans

Details such as the ” step dial ” and ” dot over 90 (DON) ” are recognizable to Speedmaster collectors. The new model features a step dial with steps around the dial, as seen on vintage Speedmasters. Also, in keeping with the original Speedmaster, which was scaled to the nearest 500 units per hour, the tachymeter scale is marked with a dot diagonally above the number 90.
