OMEGA releases the Tokyo 2020 Olympics model “Speedmaster” in a limited edition of 2020!

OMEGA, the Official Timekeeper of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games which will be held in just two years, has announced the “Speedmaster Professional Tokyo 2020 Limited Editions”. The five special models are inspired by the colors of the Olympic rings, and are limited to 2,020 pieces each for sale only in Japan, the host country of the Olympics.

OMEGA is the brand that has been responsible for timekeeping at the most Olympic Games since it became the first single brand to serve as Official Timekeeper at the 1932 Los Angeles Games. The limited edition model is a special finish befitting OMEGA’s history.

Based on the Speedmaster Professional, a highly popular moon watch, there are three models in stainless steel and two models in stainless steel and gold. All of them have polished bezels and aluminum bezel rings in the colors of the Olympic rings: “blue,” “black,” “green,” and “red. The dials are each an original color scheme, with sun-brushed blue and gray, opaline silver, classic black, and even sandblasted light gray, with the word “Speedmaster” painted on them in red.

The polished screw-in caseback is engraved with the OMEGA logo, the words “LIMITED EDITION” and the limited number as well as the Tokyo 2020 Olympic emblem. The caseback is also engraved with the Tokyo 2020 Olympic emblem, as well as the words “LIMITED EDITION” and the limited edition number.

The Olympic spirit is deeply rooted in this model, and the “gold” theme of the design is also noteworthy. The dials of all models are decorated with gold. The stainless steel models have this logo in 18K white gold, while the 18K Sedna gold and 18K yellow gold models have the same material used for the Ω logo, and the subdials are set with gold rings. The movement is the well-known ” Caliber 1861 ” from the Moonwatch series, which will continue to mark time two years later and beyond.

The Limited Editions come in a special Olympic box, and each is available in a limited edition of 2,020 pieces in Japan. A set of five watches is also available, each with an alligator strap for replacement. This set is also available only in Japan, the host country, and is limited to 55 sets.

The Limited Editions presentation featured athletes from past competitions as well as athletes who are aiming to compete in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The five athletes, including former swimmer Takeshi Matsuda, wrestler Eri Tosaka, soccer player Koki Ogawa, sport climber Tomoaki Narazaki, and rugby player Koutaro Matsushima, wore the limited edition watches and shared their thoughts and resolutions for the Games, which are now just two years away.
