What is a knit tie?
As the name suggests, knit ties are neckties made of knitted fabric, and were first introduced in the late 1920s and 1930s, mainly in resort areas. As this background tells us, the styling with knit tie ups has a somewhat relaxed mood. There are a variety of materials, from wool and cashmere for fall and winter to cotton, linen, silk, and other spring and summer fabrics, allowing you to create a sense of the season in your V-zone at any given time. The design is generally square-ended and rectangular, which is different from the usual neckties. The material and the shape of the necktie give it a two-fold appearance.
Compared to a regular necktie, the texture of this tie is softer and more casual, giving it a more subtle, casual look than a tie that would tighten up a suit style. It is best suited to business casual styles such as Cool Biz and Warm Biz, but should not be worn on formal occasions such as weddings and funerals. Even in business situations, it is best to avoid wearing a knit tie during important business meetings or presentations.
How to Tie a Knit Tie
There are probably a surprisingly large number of people who want to incorporate knit ties into their outfits but don’t know how to tie them. There are two main ways to tie a knit tie. The plain knot is the most popular knot for ordinary neckties, but if you tie a knit tie using the plain knot, the knot may become too large due to the thickness of the fabric, or it may not be long enough, making your styling look shabby. This is why we propose the oriental knot. This is a simple method that reduces the length of the knot as much as possible, and can solve the problem of insufficient length.
