What is a Sukajan?

The name “Sukajan” originated in Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture, which is famous for its U.S. Navy base, and the name “Yokosuka jumper” became “Sukajan. In other words, Sukajan is a Japanese outerwear. Therefore, Japanese and oriental motifs such as dragons, tigers, eagles, and Mount Fuji are used in embroidery designs. Originally, the Sukajan was a souvenir item created for American soldiers in the immediate postwar period, and in the U.S. it is known as a “souvenir jacket.
