Regimental striped ties are misleading!

The tie pattern “originates in the orientation of the regimental tie.”

The regimental tie, which originated in England, is basically a striped tie with a right downward stripe (the katakana character for “no” when viewed from the front). In contrast, the stripe that goes from the right shoulder down to the left shoulder is called the reverse, which is an American style said to have been commercialized for the first time by Brooks Brothers. If you are looking for a preppy or Ivy style of American origin, reverse is a good choice, but if you want to match a European suit style, we recommend you to choose regimental.

It is also said that choosing a British-made tie will lessen the aforementioned misunderstanding, as British ties tend to avoid designs used in universities and the military, even if they are regimental stripes.
