What is Warm Biz?
WARM BIZ” is an energy-saving activity initiated by the Ministry of the Environment that began in the fall/winter of 2005, and is a part of the global warming countermeasures. The “Warm Biz” initiative, which goes back to the basics of “wearing clothes when it is cold” without relying excessively on heating devices (air conditioners, etc.), encourages business styles that are comfortable at a set indoor temperature of 20°C during the implementation period from November 1 through March 31. Generally, when using electric power air conditioning equipment, the energy-saving effect of adjusting the room temperature setting is greater for heating, so it is expected to contribute to significant power savings and CO2 emissions reduction. As with Cool Biz, many items made of new functional materials for Warm Biz have been released by various brands/manufacturers, so you should choose the most suitable item from the viewpoint of TPO and heat retention. In addition to clothing, the Ministry of the Environment also offers lifestyle tips through illustrations and posters, such as “choose warm food for lunch,” “warm up with light exercise such as stretching,” and “take the stairs when moving to a nearby floor.
Warm Biz Style in the New Normal Era Focuses on Dressing Comfortably for Telework!
In this era of the new normal, teleworking styles have spread rapidly in response to the trend toward self-restraint in going outside. This season, items that allow people to spend more time indoors in comfort are attracting attention. The market for tops, such as jackets, knitwear, and T-shirts that are comfortable yet camera-ready, is particularly strong, while for bottoms, items that can be worn easily, such as sweatshirts and tech fabrics, rather than slacks, are gaining popularity. As Warm Biz styles change with the times, it is important to strategically select the most appropriate office wear.
In these days when the boundary between business and casual wear is disappearing, tailored jackets with a moderately casual design are just right. There is a growing sentiment that “I want a jacket that goes well with T-shirts, knitwear, and sneakers,” and “I want a slightly loose design that reflects trends and looks good off-duty, with a minimum of firmness. For example, “Roberval” by GENTLEMAN PROJECTS is a tailored jacket with a casual feel appropriate for the new normal era.
