The origin of G-Shock’s popularity! Introducing the recommended models of the ” 5900 ” series
The “5900” series established its position as fashion gear and brought about the dawn of the G-Shock boom, but in fact the original model was only sold for a few years in the early 1990s. It is extremely unlikely that anyone still wears the original model on their wrist, let alone has ever seen one. However, some models are still available today, as the brand, which has been diligently marketing its products, has released a reissued version in 2018 that faithfully reproduces the design of the time. G-SHOCK, which celebrated its 35th anniversary in 2018, reissued a basic digital model under the theme of “going back to the basics. While faithfully reproducing the design from the time of its launch to the point where it is almost indistinguishable from the original, this model is equipped with practical functions such as an EL backlight in addition to the basic specifications of a stopwatch and timer. (The information represented by the digital graphics is slightly different from the original, with the current model showing elapsed time from 1 to 10 seconds for the two left and right sides combined, and the “mode information” displayed in the center has also been changed.) The rich expression of the retro and modernity, such as the use of tricolor letters, is as appealing as it was back then. Considering its presence and functionality, it will bring tears to the eyes of those who knew it back then, and may even bring back the days of one’s youth.
