Fine gauge knitwear is synonymous with John Smedley products. These are so-called high-gauge knits. Knit products knitted roughly with 1.5 to 3 gauge thick yarns are called low gauge knits, and those with 7 to 10 gauge are called middle gauge knits. Knits that exceed 12 gauge are generally called high gauge knits, but Johns Smedley’s 30 gauge knits far exceed this standard.
