The founder was born into a family of shoemakers and once led Janco, a company that raised the value of Spanish shoes to what it is today. With the aspiration of making the best leather shoes, the company has become one of the top brands in the past 10 years since its launch, thanks to its thoroughgoing approach to quality. The manufacturing process is so meticulous that it is said to surpass the Goodyear welt method of English shoes, the home of classic shoes. The family of shoemakers from which Carmina originated

Carmina began in 1866, more than 150 years longer than any other long-established British brand. In 1905, his son, Mateo Pujadas, succeeded him and introduced the latest technology in shoemaking at the time: the use of machines. He opened the first factory in the Balearic Islands to manufacture shoes using the Goodyear welt method.

Carmina was founded by a man who had achieved success with the Spanish brand ” Janco

Carmina has been manufacturing shoes since the 19th century, but until the middle of the 20th century, it operated the “Sanson’s” brand. 6 generations of the family business, and one of the most talented was Jose Albaladejo Pujadas, the founder’s great-grandson. Mr. Jose Albaladejo Pujadas, the founder’s great grandson, was a rare talent in the family business. He had been involved in shoemaking since childhood and later went to Florence for training, and in 1961 he founded Yanko, which became one of the largest leather shoe brands in Spain. The following year, in 1962, Yanko introduced the Castellano Loafer, an emblematic product, and in the 1980s, the company successfully produced over one million pairs of leather shoes. This led to José Albaladejo being credited with dramatically increasing the market value of Spanish footwear.

Janco had smooth sailing, but in the 1990s, the brand’s management policy caused an internal split. José Albaladejo decided to establish a new brand at the age of 60, with the goal of “making higher quality shoes. In 1997, he started a new business with his wife and son. In 1997, he started a new business together with his wife and son, and named the brand “Carmina Albaladejo Shoemaker” after his own name and his beloved wife. In 1998, they opened their first flagship store in Madrid, and in 2003, they opened a store in Paris, which was their first foray into the international market. In 2012, he opened a store in St. Petersburg, and in 2015, a specialty store in Singapore. Today, Carmina has seven stores in Spain alone and four stores outside of Spain, and the brand still attracts customers around the world as a major brand that regularly appears in department stores in the United States and Japan.
