Seiko Prospex Unveils Premium Diver's Watch with GMT Function and Limited Edition Ice-Blue Dial for 110th Anniversary

Seiko Prospex, equipped with authentic functions for outdoor activities, introduces a diver’s watch with a GMT function that can display the time in two time zones with time differences. Two regular models and one limited edition model of 4,000 pieces worldwide will be released on June 9, 2023 (Friday).

Inheriting the design of the 1968 Mechanical Divers, a premium sports watch that is both highly practical and robust

The year was 1968, three years after Seiko launched Japan’s first diver’s watch. Equipped with the world’s most advanced 10-beat movement at the time, this model featured a one-piece case without a back cover and was water resistant to 300 meters. Since then, Seiko has continued to pursue the possibilities of divers’ watches by introducing watches equipped with its unique technology. Seiko has earned a high reputation and trust from professional divers and adventurers around the world by achieving safety and reliability that can withstand extreme environmental conditions. The new model with GMT function is a diver’s watch that has been updated with specifications and design befitting a premium sports watch.

The new mechanical caliber 6R54 is a newly developed movement that offers a GMT function and a long power reserve of 3 days (approx. 72 hours). 24-hour GMT hand can be adjusted independently, allowing the wearer to easily change to a second time zone while keeping his or her home time. In addition, this work is equipped with a rotating bezel display plate made of glossy, scratch-resistant ceramic. The unidirectional rotating bezel combines excellent operability with exquisite modeling to achieve a solid weight and a beautiful form with a low center of gravity. The newly developed bracelet is slim and fits the wrist for a comfortable fit.

An ice blue-colored limited edition model commemorating the 110th anniversary of SEIKO wristwatches is also available!

In addition to the regular model, a limited edition model commemorating the 110th anniversary of SEIKO wristwatches is also available. This model joins the “Save the Ocean” series, which supports ocean conservation, with a gray ceramic bezel and an ice-blue dial with a three-dimensional molded pattern depicting a spectacular polar scene of “glaciers. The included fabric strap features a three-dimensional, richly expressive weave pattern that combines multiple colors of threads (image: fabric strap for replacement). The fabric strap is woven using a technique based on a traditional Japanese technique called “seichu,” which is made from 100% recycled PET bottles, an environmentally friendly material. This technique has enabled the watch to meet the strict standards of Seiko diver’s watches and to be durable enough to withstand long hours of use in a tough environment. Limited to 700 pieces in Japan, the watch is numbered on the back cover.
