The 1st Annual adidas Consortium Cup, a sneaker design tournament that pits the world’s most iconic sneaker retailers against each other, will be held for four weeks beginning Thursday, February 16, adidas Originals announced today.

Sixteen sneaker retailers from around the world will compete for the title of champion in the industry’s first tournament, the ” 1st adidas Consortium Cup.”
The first-ever sneaker design tournament to be held by adidas Originals, the first round will begin on Thursday, February 16, with a total of 16 teams competing in four rounds. Participating teams include BAIT, Commonwealth, and Extra Butter from the U.S., Footpatrol and END. Overkill, BSTN and other retailers from Germany. From Japan, MITA Sneakers will participate, and the first round will be against Offspring, a popular sneaker store in London, England. Each round will have a theme, with the first round focusing on the classic Adidas Originals silhouette and the quarterfinals on the basketball heritage of the Three Stripes. The semi-finals will pursue innovative running silhouettes, and each team will propose a design for each round based on a specific theme related to the brand’s celebrated heritage.
The competition begins every Thursday, and anyone can vote for their favorite design within 48 hours via the adidas CONFIRMED app. The team with more votes will be declared the winner and will advance to the next round of competition. The sneaker designs selected from the first round to the final will be commercialized in limited quantities, 15 in all. During the tournament, the CONFIRMED app will provide behind-the-scenes footage and commentary on the designs to be voted on by radio personality and model Snoochie Shy and Craig Mitch, a well-known presenter on TV shows and other media. The first adidas CONFIRMED app will feature a variety of content.
