THE PROTOTYPE” breaks the rules of sneakers!
THE PROTOTYPE” is a completely new and innovative sneaker design by Creative Director Glen Martins, and represents the future direction of Diesel’s footwear. Named for “the start of something new,” it pushes the limits of athletic footwear design. It pushes the limits of athletic footwear design, breaking the rules in every component and from every aesthetic and technical angle. Graphically striking with its multiple rubber straps and asymmetrical laces, the sneaker was first shown on the Spring/Summer 2022 runway.
The bias rubber straps that wrap around the entire sneaker, the off-center lace-ups, and the industrial outsole and molded rubber overlays on the upper are a departure from the basics of sneaker design to date. Simply by adding them to your feet, they add a fresh accent to any style. This is the first time the limited edition color is being released on its own, but other color variations are scheduled to be released in 2022.

Diesel’s first limited edition NFT by digital fashion house The Fabricant is also released. The design features “THE PROTOTYPE” displayed in red and blue neon lights and is faithfully reproduced down to the smallest detail.
