Yabiku Henrique Yudi, a collage artist who has been attracting attention in the Tokyo art and fashion scene, is currently holding his solo exhibition ” MOTION ” at DIESEL ART GALLERY. The exhibition will run until May 13, 2021 (Thursday). In addition, limited collaboration items created for this exhibition are now on sale at DIESEL ART GALLERY and DIESEL’s official online store.

DIESEL ART GALLERY is currently holding “MOTION,” the largest-ever solo exhibition by collage artist Yabik Enrique Yuji. Yavik Enrique Yuji is an up-and-coming young artist who has been broadening his range of expression through collage, objects, installations, and other forms of artwork, finding beauty in the world’s discomfort and imperfections. More than 30 new works, including three-dimensional works, will appear in the current exhibition ” MOTION.In addition, DIESEL ART GALLERY has launched a virtual tour on its special website. Artist Statement
One day, I suddenly looked at the viaduct and noticed the age-related deterioration and graffiti. What caught my eye as beautiful in this world of technology, complexity, and the quest for perfection was the discomfort of raw reality. The bourgeoisie walk down the boulevards, and the homeless hang out in the streets. A discarded cigarette butt next to a “No skateboarding” sign. In a world that tries to make sense of everything, these young people are powerless to do anything but live in the “now. Their playground is the margins of discomfort in this town. They appear as if they are a promise of the world. I found beauty in the accidental distortion, the distortion that constantly, constantly, unintentionally, and naturally appears in the midst of finitude.

Who is Yabik Enrique Yuji?

Born in São Paulo, Brazil in 1997, Yuji moved to Japan at the age of 11. After studying fashion at Bunka Fashion College for a while, he started his expressive activities using collage in 2017. 2019 will see his first solo exhibition ” FIRST IMPRESSION ” at W+K+ Gallery. In the same year, his artwork in collaboration with Valentino was published in Them magazine. In 2021, he will hold his largest solo exhibition ” MOTION ” at DIESEL ART GALLERY in Shibuya, Tokyo.
