This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, and OMEGA has announced the long-awaited return of the iconic caliber 321. Known for its beautiful and delicate design, the original Calibre 321 was the first movement to be installed in a Speedmaster in 1957, and was used in numerous Spiesmasters that went into space, including the “ST105.003,” the only one to pass NASA’s tests and be certified as official equipment. The revived Caliber 321 retains the characteristics of the original, but has been reborn through a variety of trials and meticulous research.
The case is made of platinum gold for a luxurious look! Note the black ceramic bezel!
The 42 mm case is made of platinum gold, a special polished platinum-gold alloy. The design is inspired by the case design of the fourth generation Speedmaster (ST105.012), featuring asymmetry with twin lugs. The strap in black leather and platinum buckle is also luxurious. The bezel, one of the Speedmaster’s most iconic details, is black ceramic with white enamel tachymeter scale.
A sub-dial sliced from a real moon meteorite makes this watch a piece filled with romanticism about the moon!
The dial is made of onyx, and the 18K white gold indexes and hour and minute hands create a perfect harmony with the black color. Another detail of particular interest is the three subdials decorated with lunar meteorites. In honor of the Speedmaster’s history of lunar exploration, slices of real lunar meteorites have been incorporated into the design. The caliber 321, as well as the case and dial design, is the most appropriate for the ” Moon Watch ” of all the Speedmasters in the series.
