Seiko Prospex releases two 25th anniversary models of the “Landmaster”!

Seiko Prospex, a manufacturer of authentic watches for diving, trekking, and other sports and outdoor activities, has released a new model to commemorate the 25th anniversary of its ” Landmaster ” line. Two models, a limited-quantity model and a regular model equipped with a newly developed mechanical GMT movement, will go on sale nationwide on Friday, April 20, 2018.

The Landmaster, an adventure watch that continues to evolve

The Landmaster was created in 1993 as an adventure watch for adventurers who risk their lives to take on extreme challenges. In order to meet the demands of adventurers and mountaineers who challenge solo treks across the North and South Poles or climb the highest peaks of the seven continents, the brand pursued superior robustness and reliability. The first model was one of the most ambitious and innovative attempts, equipped with a revolutionary self-winding power generation movement and a highly functional exterior using the most advanced metal forming technology of the time. Later, the company developed movements with unique functions, such as the use of advanced materials such as titanium and ceramic and high-performance pressure sensors. A new model of the ” Landmaster ” that represents the culmination of 25 years

The new model presented here is equipped with the newly developed mechanical GMT movement ” Caliber 6R64. The clean and easy-to-read dial layout, combined with hands and indices coated with lumibrite, a luminescent material that emits light for a long time in the dark, and a sapphire glass with super-clear coating, provide overwhelming legibility in any environment. The case and bracelet, which are water-resistant to 20 atmospheres for enhanced reliability, are made of lightweight and highly durable titanium. The crown is positioned at 12 o’clock to avoid disturbing wrist movements. The bracelet is adjustable to accommodate changes in wrist circumference, which can occur at high altitudes with extremely low atmospheric pressure, such as on Mount Everest. The rotating bezel with an azimuth scale and GMT hand are also attractive design features that inherit the DNA of previous models.

25th anniversary limited edition model with engraved gold logo and serial number

The limited edition model commemorating the 25th anniversary features a black hard-coated bezel that matches the dial color, as well as a gold-colored SEIKO logo and GMT hands befitting an anniversary model. The back of the watch is marked with the words “Limited Edition” and serial numbers from 001/500 to 500/500 as a special edition.
