The appeal of Seneta Meissen 1The dial, a work of art created by repeated firing and hand-painting

Each Seneta Meissen is a small work of art. The 40mm diameter red gold case houses a hand-painted dial with minimal hour and minute indications. The beauty of this watch is expressed in two ways: the thin design of the movement gives it a very slim profile (contour), and the ornamentation is accentuated by two gently curved red gold hands. The dial is made from an ultra-thin porcelain disc, first fired at 1,400°C and then carefully inspected to ensure high quality and perfect surface flatness. The decorations, letters, and Roman numerals are then applied in layers by hand using a fine brush. To achieve the deepest color, each layer is fired in a kiln at 900°C.

Senator Meissen Attraction 2Three different dial designs

The newly released Senator Meissen is available in three dial designs: the first, limited to 150 pieces, features the Meissen Porcelain Manufactory’s artistic “Mystic Maison” in subtle gray over a white ground color; the second, also limited to 150 pieces, features the same decorated, but its hue recalls the origins of the porcelain art, with a rocaille pattern of “Mystic Maison” on a background color of celadon green. The color name is derived from the transparent green “celadon” glaze (a glassy layer that covers the surface of the porcelain, also called “glaze”) produced in China in the ninth century. the third is a Meissen crater vase, “Dekorwelten The third features a decorative collage that incorporates the iconic motifs of the “Dekorwelten” Meissen crater vase, and is limited to just eight pieces. Animals and flowers in vibrant rainbow colors are depicted against a celadon green background, weaving an enchanting fairy-tale scene.

Senator Meissen's charm 3 Calibre 36, a movement that combines Glashütte's watchmaking expertise

The time ticks away beneath the Meissen porcelain dial in the Calibre 36, an in-house movement that combines the best of Glashütte’s watchmaking technology, featuring an elaborate mechanism with modern ease of use, a bi-directional self-winding mechanism and a 100-hour run time. The silicon balance spring is resistant to magnetic fields and temperature fluctuations, and the seconds stop mechanism allows the time to be set precisely by pulling out the crown. The sapphire crystal caseback offers a full view of the movement’s meticulous finishing, which contrasts beautifully with the artistic beauty of Meissen porcelain, the refined ribbed finish of the Glashütte 3/4 plate, the hand-engraving of the balance cock, and the hand-wound The sunburst finish of the chain can be admired. The skeleton rotor with Glashütte’s original double-G logo is 21K gold, and every detail is exquisitely finished by hand, including beveled and polished edges, polished steel parts, and small blue-steel screws.
