In the 1920s, the watchmaking industry in Glashütte faced its greatest crisis in history. The German economy was in a slump, and demand for pocket watches—which had been the mainstream until then—was rapidly declining.In 1926—exactly 100 years ago—the pioneers who would open a new chapter in the watchmaking industry began their journey. The spirit of unity and exceptional craftsmanship cultivated while overcoming countless trials have been passed down to the watchmaking traditions of today’s Glashütte Original.
To honor the challenges faced by the pioneers who preserved Glashütte’s watchmaking industry for the present day, as well as the traditions that have been passed down, we are hosting the “Glashütte Watches 100th Anniversary Exhibition” with full support from our home country of Germany.A total of 55 precious archival pieces that chronicle the history of Glashütte—ranging from Assmann’s 1865 pocket watch to wristwatches from the UFAG/UROFA era, models from the GUB era, and recent models from the 2000s—will be gathered in one place.This is an extremely rare opportunity to see these pieces, which are not usually on public display, so we hope you’ll take this chance to experience the history of Glashütte Original.
