This year, which marks the 150th anniversary of Levi’s 501, a number of limited edition models have been released. The latest of these is a unique 501 with red tabs, two horse patches, and other details all hand-painted. It will be available exclusively at select Levi’s stores and Levi’s official online store on November 30 (Thu).

The limited edition model announced this time features hand-drawn fonts for every detail of the 501, from the iconic two-hose patch and red tab to the buttons and packaging. Named the “Levi’s® Vintage Clothing 1955 Hand-Drawn 501®,” this is a special, fan-favorite piece that everyone will recognize at first glance, and will be available in a limited edition of 501 pieces, named after the model.
The design is a boxy silhouette, reminiscent of bikers in the 50’s
The fabric is made from dead stock Cone Mills / White Oak red-ear selvedge denim, and the overall silhouette is boxy, with a looser cut in the seat and a little more room around the legs, paying homage to the bikers of the 1950s. The hand-painted logo on the accompanying tote bag, like the jeans, captures the unique packaging and branding details that 501 fans have come to love.
Paul O’Neill, Design Director of Levi’s® Vintage Clothing, is the first to introduce the limited edition “To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the 501® and its iconic branding, we thought it would be fun to hand-paint all the graphic elements on one of our favorite historic 501® fits. We wanted to offer the fit and functionality of the classic 1955 501® jean, but make each pair unique, a little snarky, and a little messy.
