G-SHOCK, celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2023, will release four commemorative “REMASTER BLACK” models on Saturday, May 13, with the year of release and model number of each successive model that has achieved innovative evolution engraved on the band.

The bands are printed with 49 major models selected from more than 4,200 models in the past! The base design is four popular models
REMASTER BLACK” is a commemorative model celebrating G-SHOCK’s 40th anniversary with a theme of history and evolution. On the band, the year of release and model numbers of key models in G-SHOCK’s history, which have achieved innovative evolution in terms of structure, function, materials, and design, are printed in the motif of a “stone monument” by uneven hot-stamping. The 49 models that have been carefully selected from more than 4,200 models in the G-Shock series and have become important milestones for the brand are engraved on the watch. The watch body is also designed in the brand’s iconic black tone, with a stainless steel gold ring engraved with the year of the first plane’s release and four stars. The four popular base models are the “DW-5600,” which inherited the square shape of the first model, the “DW-6600,” the first watch with a backlight, the “GA-110,” a digitaliana combination model, and the “GA-2100,” featuring an octagonal bezel. The DWE-5657RE, based on the DW-5600, comes with a replaceable round bezel of the DW-5700, allowing the wearer to enjoy two different designs.

Special design with anniversary logo and star marks on the back cover in various places
The anniversary logo is engraved on the back cover of all models. The “GA-114RE” has a star mark engraved at the 40-minute mark on the glass, and the other three models have a star mark engraved on the lower left button at the 40-minute mark. The DWE-5657RE and DW-6640RE models have a special version with the anniversary logo appearing when the backlight is turned on.
Contributing to a sustainable society through batteries and materials
All bezels and bands of these commemorative models are made of “biomass plastic,” a material made from renewable organic resources such as castor oil and corn, thereby contributing to the reduction of environmental burdens. The “DWE-5657RE” and “DW-6640RE” also feature a newly developed module with a high-luminance LED backlight, which enables a battery life of approximately five years. In addition, the packaging is specially designed in the shape of the G-Shock “G” and is made of recycled paper and vegetable ink. The special box for the “DWE-5657RE” model with interchangeable bezel set is made of bagasse, a pulp material that replaces wood, in addition to the use of vegetable ink.
