NB GREY MUSEUM," themed around the iconic New Balance color "gray," is now open

NB GREY MUSEUM” is currently being held on the 4th floor of New Balance Harajuku. The exhibition displays a number of archived gray shoes that New Balance has released in the past, as well as gray shoes that are currently available for purchase. In addition, a special drink developed under the theme of “gray” is available at the café, making this an event where visitors can experience the New Balance brand.

How did New Balance’s gray begin?

Many people may think of “gray” when they think of the symbolic color of New Balance. Gray was first used in New Balance shoes in 1980, more than 70 years after the company was founded in 1906 in Boston, USA. It was the ” 620 ” running shoe, which was developed to support the feet of runners on the pavement of the city, not on the track of a stadium. At the time, sports shoes were often white or pop primary colors, but the gray shoes were unique. The “620” was the lightest shoe on the market at the time, and the technology and craftsmanship of New Balance made it a major challenge.

Gray” has become the brand color of New Balance!

Since then, gray has always been used in New Balance’s flagship models, such as the “990” and “1000” series made in the U.S.A. At first glance, gray may seem like a quiet color. However, since the ” 620,” New Balance has always used gray to present bold challenges to the world. Now, gray has become a symbolic color of the New Balance brand itself.
