DESCENTE has launched a new project, “DESCENTE CONNECT,” based on the concept of adapting to today’s diverse environment and values, and allowing all people to freely enjoy and evolve fashion. Excitement over the new sense of “connection”! What is “DESCENTE CONNECT”?
The project features designs created to respond to and adapt to drastically changing climate change and abnormal weather, limited resources and environmental impact, and diversifying values. It has the following three features
(1) Units are connected to each other and change shape.
A single piece of clothing is composed of three units. By connecting units with different functions and colors, they can fit a variety of climates, temperatures, and moods.
(2) Materials are connected to each other and their functions change.
By combining different specifications and material units, functions can be changed according to the scene, such as waterproofness, mobility, warmth retention, and breathability.
(3) Designs are connected to each other, and styles change.
Various variations are developed for each unit, and designs and designs are created together by connecting with other industries, various partners, and users.
A single garment is composed of three units. This allows for a greater variety of wearability, and the functionality of the garment can be changed to suit various occasions. Also, by changing the combination of the garments connected by fasteners, the product is designed to be used over a long period of time, regardless of season or trend, while enjoying the change of outfits rather than having to buy new garments.
The memorable first model of “DESCENTE CONNECT” will be launched on August 27 (Friday)!
The commemorative first model is the “DESCENTE CONNECT x MIZUSAWA DOWN “C01 MOUNTAINEER””, which is a high-spec model of the Mizusawa down jacket “Mountaineer” reconstructed as a unit structure. While maintaining the functionality and specifications of the existing “Mountaineer” model, it has been reconstructed into three units: Center UNIT, Shoulder UNIT, and Lumber UNIT. Three styles will be released, and in addition to the hood type, they can also be changed into a shawl collar vest. The color is black and the price range is 187,000-242,000 yen including tax. By replacing it with the UNIT, which will be developed in the future, a single garment can be changed to suit various environments and diversifying needs. The order-taking sessions will be held at three other locations in Gunma and Tochigi prefectures after that.
DESCENTE CONNECT LOOK
In addition to the collection, eight look photos were also released, showing how a single piece of clothing adapts to diverse environments and values, changing its shape, style, and transformation, allowing all people to freely enjoy and evolve their fashion to meet their own sense of challenges. Ten people from different backgrounds, including a farmer, a businessperson, a model with a prosthetic leg, and an athlete, all of whom shared the concept of the “DESCENTE CONNECT” project, participated in the photo shoot.
We also caught information on the second phase of the project to follow. The next phase of development plans to expand the user’s freedom of style, the functionality they seek, the way they enjoy their wear, and the units they connect to. The “DESCENTE CONNECT x ACTIVE SHELL JACKET” is planned to be released, which is a unit structure of the Active Shell Jacket with high waterproofing and fit. In addition to the established high functionality, the collection is expected to offer a new level of comfort and freedom of enjoyment.
