Artist and actor Tomohisa Yamashita, known affectionately as “Yamapu,” and Onitsuka Tiger, which celebrates its 70th anniversary this year, have announced a collaboration shoe line. The shoes will be released on December 26, 2019 (Thursday) as “Onitsuka Tiger x Tomohisa Yamashita,” the seventh and final collaboration in Onitsuka Tiger’s project celebrating the brand’s 70th anniversary.

The newly announced collaborative model, “Onitsuka Tiger x Tomohisa Yamashita,” is a special pair based on Onitsuka Tiger’s “RINKAN BOOT™,” with Yamashita’s own design arrangements. Inspired by his travels, Yamashita has chosen a pure white color scheme for this pair. He says, “I keep traveling, never stopping, meeting many new people and new landscapes, and my heart is dyed in my original color. I want people to experience such moments with these pure white Onitsuka Tiger shoes, and to dye them their own color at their own pace. This is Mr. Yamashita’s strong wish. The ” GFWD (go forward)” graphic printed on the insoles and clear rubber soles is one of the most noteworthy details of the new shoes. This was coined from Yamashita’s favorite word, ” go forward. The pair, which incorporates Yamashita’s thoughts even in details that are difficult to see, is a fitting final chapter in the collaboration project celebrating Onitsuka Tiger’s 70th anniversary.
