Tomohisa Yamashita, a.k.a. “Yamapu,” and Onitsuka Tiger announce their 70th anniversary collaboration “Onitsuka Tiger x Tomohisa Yamashita” shoes!

Onitsuka Tiger x Tomohisa Yamashita” is a collaboration of Tomohisa Yamashita and Onitsuka Tiger.

The base model “RINKAN BOOT™” has the feel of a field boot that is not too rugged, but has been rearranged into a high-cut boot with a cylinder length of approximately 3 cm longer, making it possible to wear it with elegance. In addition, rubber parts have been added to give the heel area a different feel from the original. The upper is made of soft, clean white PIG skin nubuck to represent the white color inspired by travel. For the laces, three rope laces with reflector specification are attached to the laces, which are designed to reflect the light as well as the pure white shoes.

And as mentioned above, the graphic “GFWD (go forward),” a coined word inspired by Yamashita’s favorite phrase and printed on the insole and clear rubber sole, is the most prominent detail of this work.

Onitsuka Tiger x Tomohisa Yamashita” is also featuring a shoe box designed by Tomohisa Yamashita!

One of the highlights of this work is the design of the shoe box, which was created by Mr. Yamashita. The graphic was printed based on a photo of a phoenix tree taken by Mr. Yamashita. He says that when he was in Spain in July this year for the filming of a TV drama, he encountered the Houou tree and was struck by its vivid colors and the beauty of the red flowers blooming all over the tree, the most vivid impression he had ever seen. And the shoe box, designed with the image of Japaneseness in contrast between the red of the flowers and the white of the shoes, sublimates this work into a more exclusive pair.
