To commemorate the anniversary, the second collaboration project will feature a collection designed by ” KKtP ” designer Kim Kiroic. Onitsuka Tiger’s 70th Anniversary Collection – Second Collection Released! Collaboration with Kim Kiroic, designer of ” KKtP
On July 3, 2019, Onitsuka Tiger celebrated its 70th anniversary by announcing special collaborations with seven highly sought-after designers in Japan and abroad.Following the first collection released on July 4, the second collection to be released on July 29 is a collaboration with Shanghai-based “KKtP” designer Kim Kiroic, a Shanghai-based designer of “KKtP”. Named after a chess term, “KKtP” is based on the concept of moving forward with high aspirations, like a pawn (a kind of chess piece) oneself, as the name suggests, says Kiroic. This collection is a reflection of the way KKtP moves forward like a chess piece.
Ingenious shoes with upper covered with translucent material
One of the items to be released this time is a pair of shoes based on the ” TIGER CORSAIR,” which was released in the 1970s and pioneered the jogging craze. Kiroic has added a unique element to the design by covering the entire upper with a translucent material, creating a fusion of classic and contemporary design while maintaining the iconic colors and classic look of the ” TIGER CORSAIR.
Also look out for the track tops, pants, and ponchos with a playful spirit scattered throughout!
The track tops and pants also come in Onitsuka Tiger’s iconic tricolor. The track top features the Onitsuka Tiger logo on the chest and the ” KKtP ” logo on the back. The sides of the pants have slits that can be opened and closed with snap buttons for a playful finish. A translucent poncho that links to the material of the shoes is also available, and can be worn with the track top and pants for a unique layered look.
A specially shot visual and a movie of this collaboration are currently on view on the special site. The movie uses a trampoline to show the fashionable yet soft material and transparency of the garments.
