For the fall/winter season, the focus will be on the “996,” which is considered the ultimate New Balance standard. The “CM996,” the new LIFESTYLE model of the “996,” will finally be released in its standard colors on August 10 (Sat.).

What is the “996” series, the ultimate standard of New Balance?

The “996” made its debut in the U.S.A. in 1988 as the third model in the “99X” series, following the “990” introduced in 1982. The “99X” was born as a running shoe for paved surfaces, and its comfort and design have made it a long-selling model that is still popular today, worn not only as a running shoe but also in everyday life.

The updated New Balance ” CM996 ” looks and feels even better!

The “CM996” is an exquisite reproduction of the silhouette of the very popular “996” model that debuted in 1988, down to the smallest detail. The renewed model is closer to the original made in the U.S.A. “996” in terms of details such as the toe, heel, and footwear opening than the previous model. The most noteworthy feature of the shoe is its comfort. By upgrading the construction to two layers of EVA with different hardness, both stability and cushioning are achieved. By updating the outsole design and changing the insert from EVA to PU, the soft feel of the first touch point on the foot is even easier to recognize.
