We picked up a snapshot of a man wearing a single white open collar shirt, the standard color for summer tops. The V-shaped neck of the open-collared shirt is emphasized and the face looks clear, which is a hidden advantage. The simple styling also increases the influence of the matching pants, shoes, watch, accessories, and eyewear on the overall coordination. The so-called tone-on-tone dressing is an effective way to create a sophisticated impression in everyone’s eyes. Men’s bottoms are basically dark colors such as black or navy, and the aforementioned approach can be achieved by choosing a dark-toned open-collared shirt to match them. The man in the first snapshot in the image gallery below wears a navy open-collared shirt with navy pants, which is the perfect tone-on-tone coordination. On the other hand, the man in the second snap has a Prada denim open-collared shirt and black pants, and although the color scheme of the top and bottom are different, the other items are unified in black to create the same sleek impression.

In the summer season, when coordinates tend to be simple, for better or worse, a scarf or neckerchief can add a touch of glamour with just one item. In particular, an open-collared shirt with a V-shaped neckline will expose the scarf and increase its presence. We especially recommend wearing it with a quaieteur luxury style like the men in the gallery below.

A number of men styled with combinations of shirts and cut-and-sewns (T-shirts and tank tops) were seen at the most recent Fashion Week. In addition to color combinations, it is also fun to see how you can expand the variations of the shirt arrangement by choosing whether to fasten all, some, or none of the shirt’s front buttons.

Patterned open collar shirts have their own charm. One of the various types, such as botanical, paisley, and striped patterns, will surely play a major role as the star of a coordinated outfit. Even patterns that at first glance might be considered too flashy or gaudy can be surprisingly comfortable if the contrasting tones of the pattern are modest, as in the first man’s shirt in the gallery below, or if there are only a few colors, such as the third man’s shirt, which is black on white. In addition to the design of the shirt itself, it is easy to get a good look by being aware of the colors and tones in the shirt’s pattern in the matching bottoms, as well as in the overall coordination.
