Founded in Japan in 1949, Onitsuka Tiger has made a name for itself as a running shoe brand not only in Japan but also on the West Coast of the United States and other countries. In 1977, the company name and brand name were changed to “ASICS” following a business merger with another company. The “Onitsuka Tiger” brand temporarily ceased to exist. Onitsuka Tiger was revived in 2002 in Europe. Later, the company brought in Andrea Pompilio from Italy, the winner of the “WHO’S ON NEXT” award for best new designer at Pitti Uomo, as a designer, and continued to increase its popularity by developing a total product line that includes not only shoes but also clothing. The brand continues to increase its popularity.
