What are sports sandals?
Sports sandals are designed with straps that hold the foot from the instep to the heel, and the soles feature comfortable cushioning and a stable grip. Not only do they allow for easy walking off-road in the mountains or on slippery rocks by the water, but their functionality allows many of them to run as well as sneakers. The straps are mainly attached and detached with Velcro, and this strap design gives them a very sporty look.
Basically, most sandals have a strap design that supports the base of the toes, instep, and heel, as in Teva’s original universal sandals (see image above), which are considered to be the originators of sports sandals.
