The Nike " Air Max 98 " is the model to watch now! Introducing 3 features and classic models you need to know about.

Among the Air Max series of the 1990s, which led the high-tech sneaker boom, the Air Max 98 has a different presence. The artistic upper design, which was controversial at the time of its release, has been reevaluated in recent years, and new colors are being released one after another. This time, we focus on the “Air Max 98” and introduce its appeal and recommended models currently available for purchase!

The ” Air Max “, synonymous with Nike’s iconic high-tech sneaker

The Air Max series has its roots in 1977, almost 40 years ago, when Frank Rudy, an engineer who had worked for NASA, brought the idea of injecting “air” into the sole to Nike’s founder Phil Knight. In 1978, Nike released the ” Air Tailwind “, the first running shoe with air in the history of sneakers. In 1987, legendary designer Tinker Hatfield introduced the first Air Max with a “Visible Air” design that allowed the air inside the sole to be seen from the outside. The revolutionary design, which was said to have been inspired by the Pompidou Center in Paris, was successful not only in the sports world but also on the streets.

The first Air Max had visible air in only one part of the heel, but the Air Max 95, introduced in 1995, evolved to include visible air in the forefoot. The successor Air Max 97 and Air Max 98 were equipped with full-length Visible Air with windows placed around the entire circumference of the sole. The Air Max series has released new models in recent years, and in 2019, the Air Max 720 will be released with the largest capacity Air sole in Nike’s history at 38mm thick. While the new models always attract attention on the streets, the revival models released in the 1990s also boast strong popularity.

The most underrated model in the history of the series! The ” Air Max 98 “, a revival hit for its original design

The Air Max 98 was released by Nike in 1998. It was developed as the successor to the Air Max 97, which was equipped with full-length visible air for the first time in history and wowed fans with its futuristic visuals. It was designed by Sergio Lozano, who is also known as the designer of the Air Max 95. While following in the footsteps of the previous Air Max 97, such as the full-length Visible Air and wave pattern upper, the asymmetrical design gave it a challenging style. As a result, it did not gain as great a following as the Air Max 95 and Air Max 97, and although it was renewed and released several times, it was never in the limelight. The Air Max 98 was a core model for those in the know, but it was the collaboration model with SUPREME released in 2016 that sparked its popularity. The four-color lineup caused a battle on the street scene and led to a reevaluation of the design.
