Step Up Your Style Game with Enzo Bonafe: The Prestigious Italian Shoe Brand Loved by the Pope

Various stitching techniques that prove Enzo Bonafet’s technical skills

Goodyear a mano method” that makes full use of hand stitching

Enzo Bonafe has mastered several soling techniques, but his specialty is the Goodyear-A-Mano method. The Goodyear welt method, which is currently the mainstay of leather shoe manufacturing in England and elsewhere, uses a machine to perform the scoop and release stitches, but the Goodyear a Mano method uses a machine only for the release stitches, while the scooping is done by hand. This method is similar to the Goodyear welt and its predecessor, the hand-sawn welt. The addition of the manual process improves the warp of the sole and allows the shoe to conform to the foot more quickly than leather shoes made with the Goodyear welt method.

The “2C (Douche) method,” a delicious mix of Goodyear Welt and Mackay.

The Goodyear welt method is the royal road to English shoes, while the Mackay method is the royal road to Italian shoes. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. Goodyear welt shoes can be repaired many times, and the more they are worn, the more they become comfortable, but the soles are hard at the beginning of wear. The Mackay method has the advantages of lightness and comfort, as well as a clean appearance with no protruding heel, but it limits the number of repairs. Enzo Bonafet not only handles both methods, but also combines them into the 2C method. Only the waist, which is subject to less wear and tear, is sewn using the Mackay method, while the other parts are sewn using the Goodyear welt method, thus creating a pair with outstanding practicality that makes the most of the advantages of each.

Norveghese method “, a specialty of Italian shoes

The Norwegian Welt method is often used for shoes that require durability, such as ski and mountaineering shoes. The Norvegian Welted method is a simplified version of the Norvegian Welted method, beautifully arranged in the Italian style. This method, in which a thick sole with a large protruding sole is sewn to the upper with two or three stitches, has a unique presence, and around the year 2000, many Italian brands adopted this method for their own models. Enzo Bonafet still carries on this technique, which can be said to be a part of Italian culture, and still uses it in some of his models.
