UNIQLO to Launch Extremely Cold-spec HEATTECH "Super-Cold Warm" - 2.25 Times Warmer Than Conventional Heattech -...

UNIQLO announces the launch of “HEATTECH ULTRA WARM” functional innerwear suitable for extremely cold environments on December 19, 2016 (Monday). The product will be sold at UNIQLO stores nationwide and online. HEATTECH Ultra Warm is UNIQLO’s warmest HEATTECH ever, developed for daily life in extremely cold regions and for working long hours in near-freezing temperatures.
Since its launch in 2003, HEATTECH has continued to evolve as one of UNIQLO’s most popular products, but with the introduction of the new “Ultra Warm,” UNIQLO will continue to offer the “Normal HEATTECH” and “Ultra Warm,” which will be sold in parallel, and other HEATTECHs that are best suited for different temperatures and situations. The new “Ultra Warm” series will continue to evolve.

How “HEATTECH ULTRA WARM” pursues warmth and comfort

Ultra Warm” is a HEATTECH that is approximately 2.25 times*1 warmer than regular HEATTECH (approximately 1.5 times*2 warmer than “Extra Warm (極暖)”). HEATTECH uses a unique special yarn structure to retain heat-generated air, and the greater the amount of air retained, the higher the heat-retaining power.

The warmth of “Ultra Warm” lies in its special knitting design, which differs from that of regular HEATTECH and Extra Warm. This special knitting design has succeeded in making the fibers feel more puffy and the raised portion of the lining longer. The delicate gaps (air pockets) between the fibers are increased, allowing more air to accumulate, creating a large layer of air within the fabric and increasing its warmth retention capacity.
The special raising of the hair also allows the wearer to feel the warmth from the moment they put it on. Like HEATTECH and Xtra Warm, this product also has stretch and moisture absorption functions, and its soft texture makes it easy to move and comfortable even in extremely cold environments.
*1: Compared to the company’s own. 1: Calculated based on the CLO value, which expresses the heat resistance of clothing. The CLO values of HEATTECH Innerwear and HEATTECH Ultra Warm were compared and calculated to be 2.25 times higher for men’s wear and 2.25 times higher for women’s wear. Test method is ASTM D 1518-85.
※2: Compared to the company. Calculated based on CLO values, which represent the thermal resistance of clothing. Compared HEATTECH XTRAWARM and HEATTECH ULTRAWARM, CLO values were calculated to be 1.4 times higher for men’s and 1.6 times higher for women’s. Test method is ASTM D 1518-85.
