Seiko Prospex, the authentic sports watch brand by Seiko, has released a collaboration commemorating the 40th anniversary of the broadcast of “Mobile Suit Gundam. A total of three models inspired by Gundam, Char Zaku, and mass-produced Zaku will be available in limited quantities.

The collaboration with SEIKO PROSPEX is based on the first series of Mobile Suit Gundam that was broadcast from 1979 to 1980. It is a milestone in Japanese animation that still boasts popularity in Japan and around the world. The Gundam from the Earth Federation Forces and the Zaku for Char and Mass Production Zaku from the Principality of Zeon appear as watches. The features of each mobile suit are expressed in the coloring and casual design.

Even if you have never seen the anime “Gundam,” there is probably no one who does not know of its existence. The Gundam (model number: RX-78-2), which was developed as the trump card of the Earth Federation Forces during the One Year War and became a ray of “light” toward the end of the war, has been incorporated in every detail of the watch design. In order to reproduce the sharp and advanced Gundam’s fuselage, the LX (Lux) line, named after the Latin word ” Lux ” meaning ” light “, was adopted for the base model. The collaboration model of Char’s Zaku (model number: MS-06S) and mass-produced Zaku (model number: MS-06) uses the Marine Master Professional, known as the iconic piece of SEIKO Divers, as its base. The second hand pattern expresses the trademark mono eye (sensor) of Zeon mobile suits, the dial ring is reminiscent of a power pipe, and the protector is engraved with the mobile suit’s model number, all of which reproduce the world view of a solid and sturdy mobile suit.

The coloring of each of the Zaku models, including the Zaku dedicated to Char Aznable, known as “The Red Comet,” and the mass-produced Zaku, is also noteworthy.
