Recommended outerwear essential for men’s fall/winter style⑬ “P Coat

The “P coat,” a double-breasted overcoat made of thick wool melton fabric, was adopted by the Royal Navy at the end of the 19th century as a naval uniform, and was also widely worn by fishermen in Brittany, France. The origin of the “P” in “P” coat is variously attributed to “Pij Jekker,” a winter jacket made of coarse felt fabric woven in the Netherlands in the 18th century, or to “P,” a pilot’s jacket, according to a theory that it was derived from the reefer coat worn by cadets in the British Royal Navy.
