The Grafton is an orthodox English shoe, but it is also a shoe that is often evaluated as having the feel of an American shoe. The reason for this is the placement of the perforations. American-made wingtips, called American full brogue (long wingtip), are characterized by a wing-shaped toe perforation that does not fall at the foot, but extends to the heel, circling the shoe in a circle. The Grafton has perforations around the wings that circle the shoe, although the perforations at the toe fall off at the foot as usual. This unique design gives the shoe the impression of an American shoe, even though it is an English shoe.
The 5-eyelet shuttlecock has a back dovetail for smooth insertion and removal of the laces. The ease of putting on and taking off the shoes is one of the charms of the external shuttlecock style.
